1. RE: Hit the Floor!

Hahaha! You like that, huh? It's actually a reference to my training in modern/contemporary dance technique at the University of Maryland. Unlike ballet boys and rinas, which is very bound and "on the toes", a good modern dancer is someone who can "release into the floor" and "feel their various creases" (my professor's words, not mine) with ease. So as a natural klutz, I find myself gracefully "releasing" into the floor...or down a flight of stairs, or down a hill quite often. I'm still building my profile, but this community is great! I tried emailing you at your personal address last week, but somehow, I don't think the message ever got delivered. I'll try again. I read your hotzone article, and I'd like to discuss it with you further. I would also like to continue talking with you about the joint forum for evangelicals and gay activists. Talk to you soon. Aaron BTW: if you ever want to call me and chat or bounce ideas off me or anything, my number is (410) 707-1506. I hope this doesn't seem too forward, but I don't have many gay friends that I feel comfortable having a spiritual conversation with. |

Oh there are many trained dancers who are klutzes. For me, it stems from trying to walk without a rythm in my head. Can't do it. When I was 7, I went roller skating with my school. My mom, who was one of the chapperones, was helping my sister, who was 4, not to fall down. I was beginning to get the hang of it--until they turned on the miserable disco ball. I lost my orientation, and slammed into my mom. I fell down, she fell on me, breaking my left tibia clean through, and my sister fell on her. Since then, I've had a lot of twists, bumps, bruises, and the occasional concussion. But praise Jesus, I'm still alive! And with all four limbs!! So that's my klutziness. What's the story with the 310 on the back of your user name? |

haha, you trying to walk without a rhythm in your head.... i'm totally picturing you walking down the street with a hip jive in your step as you concentrate on the 70's music in your head! dy-no-mite!lol i remember slamming into my share of roller rinks. in 7th grade me and my friends had the bright idea of playing tag. we sooo got in trouble! as for 310...that stems from my life verse: "I want to know Christ and the power of His Resurrection, and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death." - philippians 3:10 i became a christian when i was 16 years old and seeing as how i had struggled with same sex attractions since i was in 3rd grade....i wanted to know what kind of a God could love me - the way I am. ya know? and the word "to know" (ginosko) describes more of an experiental kind of knowledge rather than a head knowledge. and so i want to know Christ - i want to really "know" Christ - to experience him. i want to know Him. the 310 is from phil 3:10. for awhile i used phil310 but people kept calling me Phil! ;) So is it just you and your sister? any others? |

I'm the oldest and Shannon is the middle child. Then I have another sister who 9 years younger than I am. She's really the baby, although both sisters are as tall as I am. It comes in handy that the young one, Heather, and I are the same size when I've dressed in drag. She has all sorts of tasteful dresses from special high school events (homecoming, prom, etc.)I don't make wearing dresses a regular activity of mine, but I enjoy the occasional stelletto. What you say about knowing Christ, in a way that penetrates beyond the intellect is something I've always desired. I "accepted Jesus into my heart" when I was 4, but have not really experienced his transformative power yet. I don't even know what that means. I love him. I love him dearly. But I know that were I to enjoy him fully, my needs would be met. My life verse is Matthew 11:27-28, "Come to me all ye who are weary and heavy laden. Take my yoke on you and learn from me. For my Yoke is easy and my burden is light." All things his timing, though, right? |

omg! drag! LOL, perhaps these threads should have been in msgs instead of the thread on YOUR profile! LOLstelletto! really?! lol (i'm gonna continue some of this in msgs) as for the life verses.... i guess i've always seen through a lens of going deeper. perhaps i'm ultra sensitive to substance in things. i've sat in church services long enough to get antsy in the chairs (pews) and realize i don't know the people to my left and right. and if don't know them, then they don't know me. and so how can we really be supporting one another? ya know? so i guess that's another reason why authenticity is a consistent theme in what i say and write - digging deeper and building relationships with substance - including our relationship with Christ. Matthew 11:27-28 is a great verse! How does that play out in your life? |

Oh, gee! Well, this site is about community. I wonder if there are any born again drag queens out there. If so, I'm Sister Sandy Scarborough, of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Fabulousness! That verse plays out in so many ways. I can't start to tell you here, except to say that life is loud, and this verse reminds to slow down and let Jesus steer me. It's been very useful in the last several months especially. |
